Children At CTF

“Jesus took them in his arms and blessed them”

Supporting families in the spiritual formation of children

Jesus unconditionally welcomed children. And his welcome of children is reflected in our practice of baptism. We baptize children, including them in the family of God. They are not future disciples, rather, they are disciples with us now. In this we recognize several things at the same time: children have a growing spiritual life at all stages of development, the primary place for spiritual formation is in the Christian home, and the family of the church is called upon to support families in the spiritual formation of children. At CTF we seek to be a church that supports families in the spiritual formation of children.

Children In Worship

This is a vision we seek to embody in our worship services. Children are unconditionally welcomed in worship with us. We love to hear them shout “Amen” and “Alleluia,” knowing that their presence will contribute other sounds to our worship as well. Children also fill various roles during the service, like collecting the offering. Some families may choose to keep their children with them throughout the service, and we will actively support those who do. Other families will take advantage of our nursery option. Either way, we are all together for communion and baptized children are welcome to feast with us at the Lord’s table.

Nursery

A nursery for children 0-4 years of age is available in the downstairs library space from the beginning of the service until the passing of the peace (just before communion). The nursery is a safe space staffed by trained nursery volunteers from our church family. We see play as a vital part of knowing God and enjoying him (see Zechariah 8:5). As such, our nursery is intentional about the environment, toys, music, and interaction with our nursery volunteers. The nursery space is also open to parents who need a place to feed a baby or change a diaper. Please reach out with any questions.
